Chilliwack is getting a new Y!  Opening in early 2019, this modern health, fitness, community and recreation facility will serve the community of Chilliwack, and help people of all ages to connect, thrive and reach their potential.

 

We are currently looking for enthusiastic individuals to participate in our Aquatics Leader in Training program. Through this program, participants will receive free training to become fully certified lifeguards and swimming instructors and members of our Chilliwack YMCA Aquatics Team. Not only is the training free for all participants, but they will also be paid regular staff wages throughout the entire program.

 

Requirements:

  • Valid Bronze Cross

 

What you’ll do:

  • Attend all scheduled NLS, WSI and First Aid training sessions scheduled throughout December
  • Show up as your best self
  • Teach and learn from other program participants

 

Participants Receive:

  • (Free/At No Cost) Training for the National Lifeguard Pool course
  • (Free/At No Cost) YMCA Swimming Instructor Course
  • (Free/At No Cost) Standard First Aid Course
  • Hourly wage for duration of training ($13.79 per hour)
  • Free membership to the new Chilliwack YMCA and all YMCAs in North America

  • Life Saving Instructor and Aquafit Instructor Awards an asset
  • Must possess sound knowledge of the rules and regulations governing safety in an indoor Aquatic/Spa facility
  • Minimum of 1 year experience instructing the Red Cross Swim Program or program equivalent
  • Knowledge and practice of Lifesaving, Lifeguarding, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid

Nature & Scope:

  • Guard the pool and teach swimming lessons in a positive and professional manner
