Parent & Tot 2 (Goldfish) is a swimming class designed for toddlers aged 12 to 24 months, focusing on building confidence and foundational skills in the water. In this class, parents assist their tots with entering the water from a sitting position and exiting safely. The course encourages tots to blow bubbles both on and in the water, gradually becoming comfortable with having their face wet and submerged. Tots are encouraged to attempt retrieving objects below the surface, promoting underwater exploration. Assisted entries from a sitting position while wearing a personal flotation device (PFD) are practiced, along with returning to the starting position. The class also includes assisted front floats with the tot’s face in the water, back floats, and kicking on both the front and back. Surface passes with continuous contact are introduced to help toddlers build trust and comfort with being in the water. Additionally, WaterSmart® messages are incorporated to educate parents and tots about important water safety practices.
