Preschool 2 – Crab

Crab

Preschool 2 (Crab) is a swimming class designed for children aged 3 to 5 years, focusing on enhancing water skills and safety knowledge. In this class, children practice entering and exiting shallow water while wearing a personal flotation device (PFD), helping them build confidence in aquatic environments. They will also learn to jump into chest-deep water independently. The class introduces submersion techniques, including submerging and exhaling underwater three times, which promotes breath control and comfort below the surface. Children will practice floating on their front and back for three seconds each, either with a PFD or a buoyant aid, and learn to roll laterally from front to back and back to front while wearing a PFD. The class includes front and back glides for three meters, again using a PFD or buoyant aid, and introduces flutter kicking on the back with a buoyant aid for five meters. Throughout the course, WaterSmart® messages are incorporated to educate children and parents about essential water safety practices.
