Preschool 3 – Orca

Orca

Preschool 3 (Orca) is a swimming class for children aged 3 to 5 years, focusing on building independence and skill in the water while emphasizing safety. Children will practice jumping into deep water while wearing a personal flotation device (PFD), then returning to the pool edge and exiting safely. The class also introduces sideways water entry while wearing a PFD. Students will work on holding their breath underwater for three seconds and submerging and exhaling five times, improving breath control and comfort beneath the surface. The class includes exercises for recovering objects from the bottom in waist-deep water, promoting underwater confidence. Children will practice a back float, rolling to their front, and swimming three meters. They will also practice floating on their front and back for five seconds each and rolling laterally from front to back and back to front. Front and back glides for three meters, along with flutter kicks on the back for five meters and on the front for three meters, are introduced to develop propulsion and streamline swimming techniques. Throughout the course, WaterSmart® messages are integrated to reinforce essential water safety practices for children and their parents.
