Preschool 4 – Sea Lion

Sea Lion

Preschool 4 (Sea Lion) is a swimming class for children aged 3 to 5 years that focuses on enhancing swimming skills and promoting water safety. In this class, children practice jumping into deep water, returning to the pool edge, and exiting independently, building confidence in aquatic settings. Sideways entry techniques are introduced to expand entry methods. Children will practice treading water for 10 seconds while wearing a personal flotation device (PFD) to improve endurance and buoyancy. The class encourages students to open their eyes underwater, fostering comfort and awareness. Retrieving objects from the bottom in chest-deep water is also included to enhance underwater skills. While wearing a PFD, children will practice sideways entries into deep water, treading for 15 seconds, and swimming or kicking for 5 meters. They will work on front floats, rolling to their back, and swimming 5 meters to develop coordination and transitioning skills. Side glides for 3 meters and flutter kicks on the front (7 meters), back (7 meters), and side (5 meters) are practiced to strengthen propulsion techniques. The class introduces the front crawl for 5 meters while wearing a PFD to build basic swimming technique. Throughout the course, WaterSmart® messages are emphasized to teach children and their parents essential water safety practices.
