Teach A National Lifeguard Course
As an experienced lifeguard, you may consider becoming a qualified teacher of National Lifeguard courses. Certified instructors teach lifeguard principles and techniques to include: scanning and observation, position and movement, rotation, communication, facility analysis and rescue for various aquatic environments.
The Lifesaving Society of BC & Yukon trains lifeguard instructors to demonstrate excellence both in the teaching and leading by example on the deck. If safety in, on and around water has been your passion, help build that same passion in others.
Process to Attain Certification:
- Present the necessary prerequisites
- Read the Alert Manual
- Attend 100% of the National Lifeguard Instructor course
- Successfully demonstrate Level 3 Competencies within the course time.
- Successfully demonstrate Level 3 Competencies in two teaching apprenticeship (NL Pool full course & NL Recertification within 2 years of course completion)
- Submit apprenticeship package to the Branch Office for approval
- Instructors will receive a certification in the mail upon approval of their apprenticeship package
