Who We Are & What We Do
We are Canada’s Drowning Prevention Charity, a national charitable organization that works to prevent drowning and water-related injury through its training programs, Water Smart public education, aquatic safety management services, drowning research and lifesaving sport. You may know us as the Royal Life Saving Society. We are a leader and partner in the delivery of water safety education throughout Canada and around the world.
Despite our best efforts at prevention, countless injuries and an average of 75 lives are lost each year in British Columbia and the Yukon. When these incidents and tragedies occur and you are looking for authoritative comments, related statistics and the preventative tips, we are here for you.
Interview an Expert
As the agency responsible for setting the standard for lifeguard training in Canada and for training over 1.5 million Canadians annually in swimming, lifesaving, lifeguard and leadership programs, we can provide you with the background to each news story.
The experience and expertise we can offer comes from years of program education and public education. As part of a world-wide organization, our resources are abundant and we are ready to enhance your story with background, statistics and a stand on the issues affecting safety around the waters of British Columbia and the Yukon. We are ready to connect you with one of our experts.
